Investigators carried out a search at Renault's headquarters in Paris, thought to be linked to the probe into former Renault Chairman Carlos Ghosn, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
The raid in Boulogne-Billancourt, west Paris, was reported by L'Express Magazine to be related to Mr Ghosn's case.
Renault confirmed the search, on Wednesday, saying it would comment on its nature shortly.
Mr Ghosn is on bail in Japan amid charges of enriching himself at a cost of $5 million to Nissan. He denies any wrongdoing, saying he is the victim of a boardroom coup.
Since his arrest in November last year, Mr Ghosn has been charged four times for different crimes.
The events have threatened the alliance between automotive partnership Nissan and Renault SA.
